Managing in an International Context - 3rd Trimester 2019/20

Omar el Nayal / 3.5 ECTs / Trimester-Long Course / English

This course aims to demonstrate how different firms manage the social, political and regulatory pressures that accompany international business.
Our starting point is that businesses today can longer be viewed as mere economic agents, but rather social and political entities that shape our societies and institutions.

As such, we will cover topics like market vs. nonmarket strategy, corporate social responsibility and irresponsibility, corporate political activity and political risk management.
Classes will combine various theoretical lenses with anecdotal evidence and case studies, and culminate in a full-day simulation -the Crisis Summit- that allows participants to experience first-hand the complexities of appeasing multiple stakeholder groups within an international context.
