Prof. Jan (Johannes Jacobus Pius) de Goede, Dutch citizen, Senior Principal, Tax Knowledge Management reporting directly to the CEO of IBFD (International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation), held several positions during his 23 years at IBFD including Director of its Knowledge Centre with 65 tax lawyers from around 35 different countries. He is currently responsible for Tax Knowledge Management and performs various academic, teaching and government consultancy activities, is IBFD liaison officer for relations with OECD, UN, ICC, and was so for the relations with the University of Amsterdam regarding the UvA-IBFD Adv. Master in International Tax Law until academic year 2022-2023. He is Professor of International and European Tax Law at Lodz University in Poland, and visiting professor of the Renmin University in Beijing and of the Financial University in Moscow, and teaches at several other universities and Institutes, including at IBDT in Sao Paulo.
He is member of the Scientific Council of the Polish academic journal Kwartalnik Prawa Podatkowego (Tax Law Quarterly). He is a member of IFA (International Fiscal Association), attending its international Permanent Scientific Committee for many years as supervisor of the IFA researcher and currently as General-Reporter for the 2024 Cape Town Congress, of EATLP (European Association of Tax Law Professors) and of the Dutch Association for Tax Science.
Previously he worked for 19 years at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, including as Head of the Divisions on Company Tax Legislation during which period several important changes in the Company Tax Legislation were realized, and on Bilateral Tax Treaties during which period he negotiated or was involved in the conclusion of tax treaties with dozens of countries and dealt with around 1000 mutual agreement procedures with other countries.
He was granted the Medal for Science and Society of Lodz University, the Honorary Membership of the International Fiscal Association, is a Knight in the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and an Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
