Gustavo M. Guimarães is the former Group Vice-President for Royal Dutch Shell, plc. He worked for Shell 18 years around the world and since 2010 decided to continue his career in Portugal as an investor and entrepreneur. He has been acting, since 2013, as Local Operating Partner for Apollo Global Management, LLC in Portugal and chairs the Board of Tranquilidade since January 2015, following Apollo´s acquisition. He supports two other non-profit social organizations as a pro-bono member of the Board.
Prior to the role as Group Vice President in Shell, Mr. Guimarães was a Senior Advisor to Shell’s Group Board of Directors based in The Netherlands leading the International Department and member of the Supervisory Board of Shell Deutschland Oil. He has also held a number of general management positions in Shell Gas (LPG) in South America based in Brazil, in China and in Portugal/Spain. Before joining Shell, Mr Guimarães worked in his native country Portugal with Galp, in the Retail business, and prior to that in the local National Social Economic Council as Chief of Staff to the President.
Born in 1963, Gustavo, holds an Undergraduate Degree in Economics from CATÓLICA-LISBON, and an MBA degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.  He started as a Chartered Accountant and holds several development diplomas from INSEAD, Oxford University, Institut Français du Pétrole and Shell development courses.
Married, with 4 children and 2 grand-children, enjoys motorcycling, sailing, golf and art.
