Message from our Dean #22

Quarta, Abril 21, 2021 - 17:34

Dear members of the CATÓLICA-LISBON community,

This week we are very happy to see our students return to campus for presential classes after a 3-month confinement period. I want to thank all our faculty and staff for their dedication and resourcefulness, and our students for their resilience and collaboration. We are truly Standing United throughout this difficult period.

Last week, our award winning NECEP – CATÓLICA-LISBON Forecasting Lab, issued the quarterly estimates for the Portuguese Economy, which received ample media coverage. NECEP predicts a 5% GDP fall in the 1st trimester and 1% GDP growth throughout 2021. You can access the executive summary of the report here.

We are also continuing to implement our commitment to impact and sustainability. In addition to spearheading UCP’s membership of the United Nations Global Compact last month, we also joined this month the UN’s PRME – Principles for Responsible Management Education. This is a formalization of our strong historical commitment to Ethics in Business and Social Responsibility, now with a more active strategy of engaging key national and global players to contribute to a more sustainable world.

An example of that active engagement is our knowledge conference this Thursday, April 22nd at 16.30h, Earth’s Day, which marks the launch of our Water Management Pact for Portugal with key Portuguese companies, a partnership for impact that we are spearheading in alignment with the sustainable development goals of the UN. To attend this digital conference about the importance of Water as a business resource, please register here (in Portuguese).

In addition, we continue bringing you the most relevant knowledge and learning themes. The upcoming knowledge conferences (in Portuguese) are:

- Wednesday 28th April, 17h00: “Business Warfare: Strategy in the age of Disruption”. Please register here.

- Tuesday 4th May, 17h30: “A Arte de Liderar – Perspetivas e Desafios”. Please register here.

- Thursday, 6th May, 17h00: “Fintech e Data Science: A combinação irresistível”. Register here.

Join us for these knowledge conferences.

#WeStandUNITED as a community, aligned by our purpose of contributing to a prosperous economy capable of fulfilling the needs and aspirations of all citizens.
