Following the celebration of its first anniversary, marked on April 22, coinciding with Earth Day, the Center for Sustainable Finance (CSF) of the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, established in partnership with the Santander Portugal Foundation, announces the first edition of the Lisbon Sustainability Week, an international gathering featuring various conferences and workshops dedicated to accelerating the transition to a sustainable future.

The event will welcome numerous business leaders, academics, policymakers, and pioneers from leading international institutions and universities for three days of debate on the key challenges of sustainability and the presentation of practical solutions for competitive and sustainable economic development. Under the theme “Empowering Sustainable Change,” Lisbon Sustainability Week will take place from June 16 to 18 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon and will be open to civil society upon registration. Registrations can be made here, those being free until the 18th of May.

The program will include academic sessions, where the latest scientific research in the areas of accounting and finance applied to sustainability will be shared and discussed; certified workshops in the fields of natural sciences, economic finance, and sustainability, conducted by leading institutions; and conferences focused on the impact of climate change on corporate business models, markets, particularly credit and investment markets, regulation, and the necessary solutions and responses to this urgent reality, with an emphasis on the transition and its financing.

Confirmed academic participants include scholars from the world’s most prestigious universities, such as Harvard Business School, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, Stockholm School of Economics, and CATÓLICA-LISBON. On the industry side, confirmed participants include leaders from the MSCI Sustainability Institute, Bloomberg LP, and the London Stock Exchange Group, among others.

"The transition of our development model toward a more sustainable future represents an incredible opportunity for our economies and societies. The first edition of the Lisbon Sustainability Week marks a crucial step in how we mobilize and empower all societal stakeholders, companies, decision-makers, and professionals, encouraging them to adopt a proactive role in the transition toward a more sustainable future. We chose Lisbon, a truly multicultural and entrepreneurial space, to bring together some of the world’s most influential and respected minds in sustainability, risk management, investment, and regulation, to create an event that is both educational, empowering, and transformative. We want to be the Web Summit of sustainability and place Portugal at the forefront of the global transition to a more sustainable and prosperous economy and society," explains António Baldaque da Silva, Executive Director of the Center for Sustainable Finance at CATÓLICA-LISBON.

Registrations can be made here, those being free until the 18th of May, for some of the Lisbon Sustainability Week events, such as workshops and conferences.
