Prof. David Patient has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management.
The 15-person Board of Governors is the governing body of the Academy, which has more than 18,000 academic, researcher, and practitioner members from over 100 countries. Following prior service and leadership roles in the Academy’s International Theme Committee and its Organizational Behavior Division, Prof. David Patient was invited by the current BoG to run for a Representative-at-Large position. In early April, Prof. David Patient was one of three new Representatives-a-Large elected from a slate of nine highly qualified candidates, representing some of the world’s top business schools.
The BoG is responsible for direction setting and policy development of the Academy of Management, including its annual conference and its flagship journals. The Academy’s journals include the first ranked (Academy of Management Review) and the second ranked (Academy of Management Journal) out of 115 journals in the category of "Business". The Academy of Management Annual Meeting is entering its 76th year, and is the premier conference for more than 10,000 students, academics, scholars, and professionals in the scholarly management and organization space.
As a member of the Academy’s Board of Governors for the coming three years, Prof. David Patient will participate in overseeing the Academy’s more than 20 divisions and interest groups, in evaluating the journal portfolio, in spearheading the increased internationalization and inclusiveness of the Academy, and in other major strategic initiatives.
