The current name Equality in Business is a 'descendant' of the former Woman in Business Club. Although the name has been adapted to the current scenario, the mission, and values of the club, organized entirely by students, remain the same.
It was founded in November 2019 and develops activities motivated by the motto of equality and equity not only of gender but also of culture, sexuality, religion, ethnicity or even age, from the perspective of connecting students and the business world. The main goal is to contribute to a more equal world and raise awareness in society, students, and businesses about this current and increasingly relevant issue.
This club, which deals with the above subject, is the only one of its kind in the universe of the Catholic University of Portugal and its team includes about 20 students from different countries and with different training and backgrounds.
What is the purpose and mission of the project?
The purpose of Equality in Business is to contribute to a future in which the world of business and enterprise is diverse, inclusive, and fair. The members of the club believe that this world is possible if each individual develops the right knowledge, methods and tools during their education that will be reflected in their position as a leader in the future.
On the other hand, their mission is to awaken the interest of students and companies in the issues of equality and social inclusion by providing them with relevant approaches with practical and didactic significance on how to become an inclusive leader.
In other words, the club not only connects students with businesses, but also creates awareness of equality and equity in the business world, which in turn promotes practical and relevant actions and approaches.
According to Equality in Business members, "Every top business school in the world provides some type of education that covers the areas of inclusion and leadership among their students. In this sense, it is important for the club of students of CATÓLICA- LISBON that their projects are consistent with and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
