Next Wednesday, December 11th, the Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics will host the final event of Agrifood Disruptor, a pioneering and innovative program designed to tackle sustainability challenges in the agri-food sector. With a focus on empowering researchers to transform scientific discoveries into practical, high-impact market solutions, this initiative stands out as a unique reference for promoting innovation and sustainability in the field.
The event, taking place in Auditorium 511 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, will showcase the projects developed by 25 researchers participating in the program's first edition. They will have the opportunity to present their innovations to leading companies such as Delta, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and Jerónimo Martins in an environment conducive to forging strategic partnerships and strengthening the agri-food ecosystem.
In addition to the presentation of the researchers’ projects, the event will feature contributions from faculty and experts from CATÓLICA-LISBON, who will share insights on critical topics for the sector. Professors Filipe Ravara and Maria Estarreja will open the event with an analysis of "The Future of Agribusiness and Agri-Food in Portugal." This will be followed by a session with Izaskun Valle, a representative from EIT Food, who will discuss the opportunities available in the sector after the program. Professors Rita Coelho do Vale and Ana Costa will lead a session on "Consumer Trends: Challenges and Opportunities," offering valuable perspectives on shifts in consumption patterns and their market impact.
The event marks the conclusion of an intensive three-month program designed to accelerate the journey from research to practical application. Since October, participants have undergone a structured process in three phases: an online Roadshow introducing innovation opportunities in the agri-food sector and potential funding sources; a Bootcamp offering intensive training focused on market validation and entrepreneurial skills; and the Market Discovery Journey, a hands-on phase where researchers collaborated with industry experts to refine and adapt their innovations.
The initiative is promoted by EIT Food, Building Global Innovators (BGI), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), and CATÓLICA-LISBON.
The event is open to researchers, leaders in the agri-food industry, investors, and startups interested in innovation. Registration can be completed here: https://clsbe.lisboa.ucp.pt/registration-agrifood-disruptor-final-event
