FAQ

keyboard_arrow_up What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is an application from the Office 365 Suite that CATÓLICA-LISBON is using to host online courses and remote classes.

Please note that, during the adaptation period to this new platform, you may have classes through different software. Your professor can choose to use Microsoft Teams or another video conference platform.

The professor is responsible for sharing the access link to their courses if they opt for a different platform.

keyboard_arrow_up How can I find my Microsoft Teams access credentials?

The University has sent to you an email with the subject UCP: Credenciais de acesso/ Access Credentials. This email contains the user email and initial password that you must use to activate your account in your first access to Microsoft Teams through Office 365 Suite website (portal.office.com).

If you are unable to find this email in your inbox, please check the junk folder or spam folder. If you are still missing this email, please contact the Teams Student Support in order to have it resent to you.

keyboard_arrow_up Can I login with my personal/student account?

No. You must use the Access Credentials sent via email (email subject UCP: Credenciais de acesso/ Access Credentials) and with the new password created during your first access to portal.office.com.

Your user email must follow the template below:

s-yourstudentnumber@ucp.pt

keyboard_arrow_up Why do I have to activate my account?

In order to use Microsoft Teams features as a student, you must authenticate your account.

If you don’t activate your student account, you will not be able to access your courses assignments, courses material, courses working groups and your professor cannot help you with your performance during the trimester.

keyboard_arrow_up Can I access my classes without a Microsoft Teams account?

Yes, however we don’t recommend that you prolong this situation. If your professor shared the classroom link in Moodle or via email, you can access your classes as guest. You just have to open the classroom link in a browser and follow the access instructions.

However, if you don’t activate your student account, you will not be able to access your courses assignments, courses material, courses working groups and your professor cannot help you with your performance during the trimester.

keyboard_arrow_up What should I do if I have problems to login?

First of all, you should try to verify if you are following the received access instructions correctly. Second, you have to check if you are using the correct access credentials. Third, you can clean your browser cookies and cache in order to avoid data overlap.

If you see an error message in the end of your credentials validation process or if you are still with problems to login, please contact the Teams Student Support.
