Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for allocation purposes within the Undergraduate Exchange Program considers two important components of your academic journey – the academic average at the time of application and the progression of your study plan.

The final average for allocation purposes is determined as follows:

Academic average x Study plan progression

Final average for allocation purposes

NOTE
  • For calculation purposes, we will consider the academic average with two decimal cases. For partner universities that ask for a minimum academic average, we will consider the student’s academic average and not the final average for allocation purposes.
  • Students will still be able to apply even if their final average for allocation purposes is lower than 10 (and this should not be seen as a negative application average).

How to determine your study plan progression?

∑ ECTS positive graded courses / Total study plan ECTS

Study plan progression

NOTE
  • The study plan progression shall vary between 0 and 1
  • ∑ ECTS positive graded courses = sum of the ECTS of the courses with status “Aprovado” and “Creditado” on e-SCA. ECTS resulting from Learn in Action modules, experiences validation (e.g. Summer/Winter Schools) and/or Peer Tutors program will not be taken into consideration.
  • Total Study Plan ECTS = total number of ECTS foreseen in each study program until the application period (i.e. for students of the Intake 2022, until the end of – and including – the 1st semester of their 2nd year of studies). See table below.

Total Study Plan ECTS per study program and Intake*

Students will be allocated to the partner universities according to their final average for allocation purposes and the list of universities selected in the Application Form (ranked by order of preference, from the 1st until the last option). Please recall that only the last application form submitted will count for allocation purposes.

In the specific case of students with the same final average applying to the same partner university, allocation will take place according to the following rules:

  1. Priority will be given to students with the highest study plan progression;
  2. If there is still a tie, priority will be given to students who submitted the last Application Form in the first place.

*Starting year of your study program at CATÓLICA-LISBON.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for allocation purposes within the Master Exchange Program is the Weighted Average Grade (WAG), which is determined as follows:

∑ (positive course grade * course ECTS) / ∑ course ECTS

The following courses will not be taken into consideration:

  • Career Accelerator Lab workshops;
  • Technical modules without a quantitative grade.

In the case of students with the same Weighted Average Grade, priority will go as per below:

  1. Students with none (or the lowest number of) failed courses;
  2. If there is still a tie, priority will go to students who submitted the Application Form in the first place (please recall that only the last form submitted will count for allocation purposes).
