Career Award 2013

Luís Palha distinguished with the Career Award 2013

On the 14th of May Luís Palha, the current vice-president of Galp and a former student of CATÓLICA-LISBON, Business Administration 1976-1981 class, was distinguished with the Career Award 2013.

The panel chaired by Manuela Ferreira Leite and comprising Artur Santos Silva, Francisco Pinto Balsemão, Isabel Mota and Manuel Ferreira De Oliveira distinguished Luís Palha for his brilliant and diversified career path.

Luís Palha started his professional career at Quimigal and was CFO of Covina and Cimpor. He also held senior positions in the Boards of Directors of various companies such as IPE, Sogefi, Celbi, EGF and Sefis. Before he started working for Galp, Luís Palha was a member of the Executive Board of Jerónimo Martins, where he had already occupied the positions of CFO and CEO.

The Career Award 2013 ceremony was preceded by a warm reception of former students by current students of CATÓLICA-LISBON and was also a good opportunity to visit a small exhibition dedicated to sports development in the faculty, which was designed especially for this event because Luís Palha was known in our school as an active participant in a variety of sporting events.

After the speech by the Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON Francisco Veloso, the special guest of the ceremony Tomaz Morais took the floor. The speech by the National Technical Director of the Rugby Federation entitled "Querer é poder, crer é vencer" (Where there's a will there's a way, believing is winning) was dedicated to leadership.

Afterwards, Manuel Ferreira De Oliveira, the Executive President of Galp Energia, presented his colleague Luís Palha to the audience, and the winner then received the Career Award 2013 from the Vice-Rector's hands, José Tolentino Mendonça. The ceremony ended with a pleasant cocktail where alumni could get together and revive CATÓLICA-LISBON.
