Can I apply for a Master Program after the Undergraduate Program?

After completing their Undergraduate Program students have the option to continue their education through a Masters Program. Most Undergraduate students at CATÓLICA-LISBON pursue their Masters Program at our school, benefiting from several interesting options.

According to the Financial Times rankings, CATÓLICA-LISBON Master Programs are among the best 50 in the world.

Our Masters of Science are international programs which are fully taught in English and 50% of the students in class are international and represent over 40 different nationalities.

Can I benefit from a scholarship?

CATÓLICA-LISBON follows a policy that aims the organization of programs that allow high-level students to enter and study at our school without paying tuition fees or with financial aid.

CATÓLICA-LISBON TOP+ Scholarships

Prize for Excellence:

CATÓLICA-LISBON Top+ is an award program implemented by The School of Economics and Management at Universidade Católica Portuguesa for Economics and Business Administration undergraduates/degree students [11] who have performed at an academically superior/higher level.

This system of prizes implies that a good student could/may complete his or her degree in Economics or Business Administration at CATÓLICA-LISBON without paying any fees.

Only students who do not fall behind in any of the subjects taken may benefit from these prizes.

UCP Social Grants

Since its founding UCP has always made great efforts to ensure that no student is denied access to its courses due to financial restrictions.

Where an application to the University proves that a high potential student requires financial support, the Social Services Office of the University may completely cover or partly cover tuition fees through the following entities:

  • Study Grant;
  • Reduction of tuition fees.

Do I need to be a Catholic to apply to these programs?

No, Universidade Católica Portuguesa is a pontifical university (meaning it is statutorily ruled by an agreement between the Portuguese State and the Holy See), but we host students, faculty and staff from multiple creeds. Your religious background will not be a factor in our admissions criteria or in the course of the programs and you will only be asked to follow a code of conduct similar to any other university.

How do I know the course will be recognized by potential employers?

CATÓLICA-LISBON alumni have the best reputation among Portuguese schools in the job market and around two thirds of our students are usually placed before graduation. CATÓLICA-LISBON is now one of only 35 business schools worldwide to be accredited by all three management education associations (EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB) and is the best school in the country ranked amongst the best business schools (FT 2014 Top European Business Schools). It is clear evidence of our quality and shows that we rank with the best in the world.

How will I prepare my entry in the job market?

The Career Development Office works with students from the very first day helping them prepare their entry into the job market. The activities hosted by the career department enable students to setup a professional network with companies and economic institutions, to develop their social skills and to prepare them for exciting and successful careers.

What is CATÓLICA-LISBON students’ employability rate?

The quality of our students is strongly recognized by recruiting companies:

  • 97% of CATÓLICA-LISBON students are placed in the job market within 3 months after graduation;
  • 92% of CATÓLICA-LISBON students participate in internships before completing their degree;
  • 83% of CATÓLICA-LISBON students are employed before graduating.

Note:  Applications to CATÓLICA-LISBON are independent of the National Contest for Admissions into Higher Education (applications to state universities).

Who can apply?

  • High School students who fulfill the following requirements:
    • Completion of High School;
    • Have passed the National Math (A level) Exam or Equivalent, either in the current academic year or in one of the 2 previous academic years.
  • Students from foreign high schools [in Portugal or abroad] who fulfill the following requirements:
    • Have concluded, or will conclude by the end of the current academic year, their high school education and have obtained equivalence to the 12th grade of the Portuguese education system;
    • Have passed the Portuguese National Math (A level) Exam, or an equivalent high-level final Math exam completed at a foreign high school*.
