The profession of Nutritionist, although being quite young, have been taking large steps for its maturation. These are professions very accredited socially, which incidentally, has been reflected in its presence in many organs of decision and consultation, particularly in the areas of Health, Education and Food Security, such as the World Health Organization, General Directorate for Health, the Ministry of Education, the Food and Economic Safety Authority.
It is to be noted, for example, the role of these professionals in the Food Industry. With its increasing social responsibility in providing more equilibrated food choices and develop more healthy products we see the important role that the nutritionist, while healthcare professionals, can take and have been taking more and more. Also the Nutrition appointments in private clinics, as well in hospitals, have suffered an exponential growth, with these professionals taking a role of consultants given the higher preoccupations with health nowadays. The preoccupation of Public and Collective Restaurants in guaranteeing quality meals, with these main concerns nowadays, makes the intervention in food security of these professionals fundamental. It should be noted, finally, the role of the nutritionist in Local Authorities, one arising necessity after switching to local authorities the responsibility for meals served in public schools, along with the responsibility of local authorities in the health of its citizens, putting these professionals in a unique position to promote healthy habits at local level.
In a continuous line of innovation that has been marking the presence of CATÓLICA-LISBON in Executive Educative, especially in the Health Area, comes the Integrated Management Program for Nutritionists - GESNUTRI. The program aims to guarantee that the nutritionists and dietitians get a consistent training and a great management quality that can potentiate the respective careers and capacity of creating value for its organization. It covers a group of fundamental areas, specifically Economics and Strategy, Marketing, Leadership and Organizational Behavior, Finance.
